About Grants
The Fund receives requests for assistance on a regular and wide ranging basis. Here are just some of the things we have provided help with over the years:
Disability
- An 'autolift' bath chair for a retired member of staff with Parkinson's Disease.
- Help to establish a former member of staff's handicapped child in purpose-built accommodation.
- An electric wheelchair.
- Fund special school fees for a child with severe learning difficulties
- A paraplegic member of staff who needed assistance with the cost of a special car.
- A disabled member of staff who needed a car conversion to remain mobile.
Illness
- A stay in a convalescent home following major surgery.
- The cost of sheets and other essential items associated with hospice care.
- Overnight accommodation and travel for individuals, parents and spouses when medical treatment is provided away from home.
- A kidney patient who was in urgent need of a portable dialysis machine.
Poverty / Old Age
- The installation of a 'Help The Aged' panic alarm.
- Numerous cases of assistance with essential maintenance and repair for those, usually pensioners, on very low incomes.
- A disabled pensioner given help to purchase a special electrically powered armchair to assist with standing and sitting.
